De UP!cycle Studio wordt gedreven door één kernovertuiging: wat we weggooien heeft nog steeds waarde. Vanuit Amersfoort transformeert de UP!cycle Studio weggegooid plastic afval tot handgemaakte objecten die even opvallend als confronterend zijn.
Elk stuk begint met materiaal dat nooit mooi had moeten worden; plastic afval, dingen die achteloos werden weggegooid. Door een proces van smelten, vormen en met de hand modelleren, krijgen deze materialen een nieuwe vorm en een nieuw leven. Het resultaat is een collectie gebruiksvoorwerpen die de sporen dragen van onze consumptiecultuur: fel van kleur, organisch van vorm en onmogelijk te negeren.
Het werk is samengebracht onder de titel Produce of Excess. Een knipoog naar de overvloed waarin we leven, en de schoonheid die daaronder bedolven raakt. Deze objecten dragen meer dan spullen. Sommige dragen licht.
Naast haar kunstpraktijk werkt the UP!cycle Studio samen met scholen en bedrijven aan interieurprojecten waarbij meubels en materialen worden her- en opgewaardeerd die anders verloren zouden gaan. Bij verbouwingen en verhuizingen komt vaak prachtig materiaal vrij. Samen met leerlingen of medewerkers worden deze materialen omgevormd tot kunstwerken of meubels; gemaakt op locatie, en bedoeld om te blijven.
De kern van alles is dezelfde vraag: wat als we ophielden met weggooien, en anders naar dingen begonnen te kijken?

The UP!cycle Studio is driven by one core belief: what we throw away still has value. Working from the city of Amersfoort, theUP!cycle Studio transforms discarded plastic waste into handcrafted vessels that are as striking as they are thought-provoking.
Each piece begins with material that was never meant to be beautiful; plastic waste, things cast aside without a second thought. Through a process of melting, shaping, and modelling by hand, these materials are given a new form and a new life. The result is a collection of functional objects that carry the traces of our consumer culture: bold in colour, organic in shape, and impossible to ignore.
The work is brought together under the title Produce of Excess. A nod to the abundance we live in, and the beauty that gets buried beneath it. These vessels hold more than objects. Some carry light.
Beyond the art practice, the UP!cycle Studio works with schools and companies, on interior projects to re- and upcycle furniture and materials that would otherwise be discarded. Renovations and relocations often free up beautiful materials. Together with students or employees, these materials become artworks or furniture — made on site, and made to stay.
At the heart of it all is the same question: what if we stopped throwing things away, and started looking at them differently?
