Saskia Kappers continues the tradition of embroidery with Voortborduren*, seamlessly blending old techniques with modern craftsmanship.
From her studio at the green and inspiring Hof van Cartesius in Utrecht, she creates sustainable artworks that soften spaces, improve acoustics, and tell stories. Her work is not only decorative but also functional and spatial. She embroiders on materials such as recycled felt, Dutch sheep wool, and even paper — all carefully chosen for their texture and sustainability.
Each piece is unique or created in small editions: from her own creations to bespoke designs for private clients, businesses, or in collaboration with architects. With her background as an interior architect, she considers the overall design, ensuring that art and space complement and enhance each other.
*Voortborduren in dutch means: elaborate; borduren means embroidery
